What homeowners ask before they start.

How long does a DA take in Sydney for a granny flat or knockdown rebuild?

For straightforward residential work we lodge complete and design knowing what each council needs — typically 6–12 weeks once submitted. The CDC pathway, where eligible, is often approved in 21 days.

Do I need a DA or a CDC for what I want to build?

A CDC is faster but only available if your project meets specific complying-development rules (lot size, setbacks, height). A DA covers anything outside those rules and goes to council. Take our 90-second checker at /tools/da-vs-cdc to find out which path applies.

How much does design + engineering + approval cost for a homeowner project?

Typical residential scopes run from a few thousand for a granny flat to tens of thousands for a duplex or knockdown rebuild — depending on size, complexity, and council. We give you a fixed quote at the free site visit so there's no surprise.

Do you handle the certifier and council, or do I?

We do all of it — lodgement, RFI responses, private certification — included in the fixed fee. You don't chase sub-consultants.

What happens if council pushes back on my design?

We design to council's actual requirements, not generic templates — that's why our approval rate is 100%. If a redesign is ever needed, we re-lodge at no cost.
